India–Pakistan Peace Process Intent and Incapacity Paradox

This article evaluates the peace processes initiated between the two countries in the last decade and seeks to assess the potential of the new civilian regime in Pakistan and the political establishment in New Delhi to break away from their troubled past. This article uses a case study to assess the intent of as well as limitations on leadership of both countries for staying engaged in a process of dialogue. Read an abstract

Liberal Peace and South Asia

Following the end of the Cold War, South Asia has been in transition in a number of ways. Based on the Kantian tripod of democracy, economic interdependence and institution, this article assesses whether liberal peace has taken root in South Asia. It concludes that although an incipient liberal order may be discerned in the region, South Asia has yet to change fundamentally to become a zone of liberal peace. Read an abstract
